What happens when a French house builds its entire catalogue around Japanese haiku? Floraiku named this one after aiai-gasa, the tradition of two people sharing a single umbrella, and asked Alienor Massenet to write it in as few notes as a poem allows. She used black currant, genmaicha tea and cedar, and almost nothing else.
It opens on black currant absolute so photorealistic it reads as fresh berry rather than candy, with cyclamen keeping it airy. Then the genmaicha arrives, roasted and nutty from the puffed rice, and the whole thing turns into warm pastry without a gram of added sugar. Then cedar and white musk hold it against the skin for eight to ten hours, which is far longer than a scent this quiet has any right to last.
