Vetiver Fauve is what happens when Delphine Jelk refuses to do the dark, smoky, ashy vetiver everyone else does. For this L'Art et La Matiere release she pushed the root toward its wilder green side and wrapped it in a wet tropical fruit accord, fig and pineapple over cypriol, so it reads like a jungle at first light rather than a gentleman's study.

Green fig and unripe pineapple open it humid and strange, more botanical than sweet. Then cypriol takes the middle with a mentholated, mineral edge that mimics vetiver before the real thing shows up. Then vetiver and tonka land together, the tonka lending a caramelized almond warmth that keeps the whole thing from turning bitter. Six to eight hours with real presence early on.
