What happens when Le Labo tries to bottle Los Angeles? Frank Voelkl built Musc 25 as the LA City Exclusive, white and angelic on the surface and somber underneath, because angels have to be tempted into the smell of life. Like Vanille 44, it lives in one city eleven months of the year.
It opens with aldehydes that read as pure white light, clean in a way almost no niche musk manages. Then the musk itself unfolds, warm and skin-like, with amber giving it body. Then vetiver, ambergris and a vegan civet accord drag it somewhere darker and more animalic, and it sits close for six to eight hours smelling like you, only better.
The 100ml is $555 during the annual worldwide window and unavailable otherwise. A 2ml decant costs less than the tester.
