YSL Muse is the newest icon in Le Vestiaire des Parfums, created by Marie Salamagne as a tribute to the women who inspired Monsieur Saint Laurent's sketches. The idea is ink: the dark, slightly metallic, smoky accord of a fountain pen, softened by powdery iris and warmed by Bourbon vanilla.
It opens with incense, Ourika lavender and clary sage, fresh and a little aromatic. The heart is where the ink accord and ambrette come through, with iris concrete giving it that buttery, suede-like softness. It dries down to Bourbon vanilla over amber woods, close to the skin but with real presence. Unisex by design, and nothing else in the YSL lineup smells quite like it.
