Memoirs Of A Perfume Collector sources a meaningful share of each composition's materials from the location it is named after. California Love is David Chieze's 2026 entry, conceived as an olfactory cocktail rather than a perfume.
It opens on passionfruit, loud and tropical and instantly recognisable, with bergamot, lemon and orange sparkling around it. Then the mojito accord shifts the mood, minty and sugared-lime, with blackcurrant adding a tart dark-berry counterweight. Then ambroxan and clean musk bring a skin-like warmth while oakmoss gives it an earthy floor, holding six to eight hours.
This one polarises. Some find it a joyful summer cocktail, others find it loud and synthetic for the price. Worth 2ml before the 75ml.
